Using Tablets To Live Score Your Digital Pool Tournaments

This will provide live scores to online audiences as the tournament progresses and will additionally report scores of completed matches to be approved by the Tournament Director/Bracket Runner.L

  • Using Scoring Tablets in your Tournaments will significantly reduce the length of your tournament and add features to your tournament that all Tournament Directors can leverage!

    • in 32 Bracket Dbl Elimination Events up to 2 hours in time savings.

    • in 64 Bracket Dbl Elimination Events up to 3 hours in time savings.

    • in 128 Bracket Dbl Elimination Events up to 4 hours in time savings.

  • Preferably any chargeable 10.1" Android Tablet

    • Amazon has many varieties around $55 each

    • Amazon has this very inexpensive stand for $6 each

    • BE SURE TO SET THE SCREEN BRIGHTNESS TO THE LOWEST SETTING!

      • This will extend the life of the tablet considerably. Tablets will last 12-14 hours even longer

      • Have enough tablets for each table

        • It's always nice to have a few extras just in case one dies!

          • Be sure to keep extras on charge

          • With tablets on the lowest brightness will last well over 12 hours per day

          • Bring several multi-position outlets/surge protectors to be sure you can charge all tablets at the end of the tournament day, so that tablets are fresh and ready for subsequent days or tournaments

  • Install fullykiosk.com from Google Play Store

    • Fully Kiosk will assist in keeping the tablet always on, so it does not go to sleep

      • A Fully Kiosk License is $10 Lifetime per Tablet

        • Enabling Kiosk Mode with a Fully Kiosk License will;

          • Allow you to simply start the tablet and the scoring screen will appear

          • The scoring screen will always appear at boot up or from power fail state

    • Fully Kiosk will work without a License, you will simply have tap the app icon every time after the tablet has fully booted up

  • You will need a dedicated Event created at https://digitalpool.com/events

    • This will ensure you do not have to change the scoring URL's for each tablet for every tournament

    • When you configure a new tournament in Digital Pool, be sure to add the Event to in the Tournament Settings Step #1 (above the venue setting)

    • It is recommended to use a short 1 word Title for your event. This will make it much easier to enter the scoring URL's into the tablet, as you will have to do this manually for every tablet you need in a tournament only 1 time

  • Add your scoring URL to each tablets Fully Kiosk URL setting

    • URL for each tablet will be https://digitalpool.com/events/<your-event-slug>/tables/table-<table #>/scoring

    • example: https://digitalpool.com/events/my-event-name/tables/table-1/scoring

    • It is recommended to use a one word event Title in the Digital Pool Events area to ease of adding these URL's to each tablet only 1 time

      • Be sure to add the event to your Digital Pool Tournament Settings Step #1 (above venue setting) for the tablets to receive the signal when a match is assigned. This will be a complete automatic process if the "Casual Mode Scoring Screen" is displayed on the tablet.

        • Players WILL NOT have to enter select their game type and enter their names from the Casual Scoring Mode displayed when there is no match assigned. When a match is assigned the tablet will automatically display the match, names, race, and scoring + and - symbols to increase or decrease the score of the match

  • iOS Apple iPads can be used as well. We have no knowledge at this time to keep iPads from going to sleep when using Safari with the Scoring URL. Maybe someone can explain this and we can add it to this knowledge base on how to successfully achieve this.
